　　Imported kaolin Rich in resources, widely distributed. The United States, Britain, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Australia, Russia and other countries have high-quality kaolin resources. At present, the world has identified approximately 20.9 billion tons of kaolin resources.

Main kaolin deposits at home and abroad

(1) Georgia, USA—— The South Carolina kaolin belt is the largest kaolin deposit and production area in the United States. The deposit in this area is a secondary accumulation deposit. The characteristic of this kaolin ore is its good homogeneity. Due to the natural accumulation process, the kaolin stops natural grading according to its size.

(2) The kaolin deposits in the Cornwall region of the UK are hydrothermal altered primary deposits with low iron content and excellent whiteness. These special mineralization conditions make the kaolin consumed in the UK famous worldwide.

Distribution of origin

At present, there are more than 700 kaolin occurrences in China, and the Proven reserves of 200 occurrences are 3 billion tons, which are relatively scattered. Among them, 1.67 billion tons of coal series kaolin is mainly distributed in the Carboniferous Permian coal series in the northeast and northwest of northern China, and exists in the form of gangue in coal seams, roof and floor or separate ore beds.

China is a major coal producing country, and fundamentally large coal mines are associated with coal bearing kaolin, so the reserves of coal bearing kaolin are very abundant. The proven industrial reserves of non coal based kaolin in 1996 were 1.432 billion tons.

Compared with other non-metallic resources, kaolin is not an advantageous resource in China and is even more scarce on a per capita basis. Moreover, the distribution of kaolin resources in China is relatively scattered, with low grade. Most of them are coal based kaolin (rarely found in foreign countries), which needs to be calcined or modified. However, there are natural limitations when used for paper coating.

Moreover, coal based kaolin is difficult to be widely mined and applied due to its association with coal. In China, the reserves of non coal based kaolin are equivalent to that of coal based kaolin, but the vast majority are tubular kaolin with high viscosity and cannot be used for paper coating.

According to the understood materials, as long as the kaolin resources in Guangdong, Guangxi, Anhui, and Hebei Shahe can be developed for papermaking coatings, the resources are very precious. In the mid to late 1990s, Shahe in Hebei had fierce competition with Maoming kaolin in the domestic paper coating market, but it gradually shrank due to a lack of resources.
